HUMIDIFICATION
The relative humidity of the Sahara Desert is 25% and Death Valley is 23%. In the winter months, the average heated home can have a relative humidity as low as 13% to 16%.

Relative humidity is the percentage of moisture in the air compared to its maximum capability to hold moisture under the same conditions. Seventy degree air can hold moisture under the same conditions. Seventy degree air can hold more than 12 times as much moisture as 10 degree air. The recommended indoor relative humidity is three to four times more than the humidity level in an average North American home in winter.
